Event Description

Maundy Thursday Holy Communion, commemorating the Last Supper and Jesus washing His disciples' feet to teach humility and Christian service.
The word 'Maundy' comes from the Latin word 'Mandatum' meaning commandment and Christians remember Jesus' famous commandment to his disciples to "Love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12 .
At the end of the Eucharist the altar is stripped, symbolic of Jesus’ stripping by the soldiers before his death.
The music for this service is Haydn’s Little Organ Mass.
