I have a question. I hope  that a member of the London Internet Church  can answer this question. I  often pray the morning and evening prayer. In the Book of Common Prayer, the Psalms are divided in 30 days . What do I do if the month has 31 days? Greetings from Germany!

Which version of the Book of Common Prayer are you using?
The 1662 edition puts days 30 and 31 together, see http://www.eskimo.com/~lhowell/bcp1662/psalter/psalms_5.html
Hi, Thanks for the quick response. I usually use "The Shorter Prayer Book", first published 1946. As there are indeed "only" 30 days! That was a question posed to me, as a theologian. Now I can pray in peace!
Jim Rosenthal says you repeat Psalm 150.
Hi, I want to thank you for your efforts. Best wishes, Thomas
Here's Peter Delaney's reply:

The Lectionary of the Church of England allows for a division of the final Psalms into two sections thus when a mointh has 31 days the final batch of Psalms 144 to 150 are split. We use Psalm 144 and 145 leaving 146 for the next day and 147 and 148 for 30 and 149 and 150 for 31st.

But frankly creative use of the Psalms means using them as you find helpful and changing as you think fit.
Good afternoon, Lynda, Thanks for your reply. I take the Book of Common Prayer as a guide for my private prayer. I miss in the Protestant Church of Germany the morning, evening and night prayer. Few spiritual communities pray these prayers. The Book of Common Prayer is my vade mecum. It is a great help. But I am free in my thoughts and pray my favorite psalms. I send you and all members of the London Internet Church Greetings from Germany.

P. S. Give my regards to Peter Delaney.

Smeagologists

Once someone asked me “What is a Smeagologist?” My reply was simply, “Whatever you want it to be!” Seeing as I invented the name, I think I have a right to decide that it be a neutral term that is based roughly upon one’s emergence in a society that is progressively reductionist and bordering on Nihilism on one side and Contemplation on the other, I prefer the Contemplative side but attend most vigorously to the other seeing as our pale blue dot is gradually disappearing and who knows one day…See More

I ask for your prayers.

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
