I wonder if anybody would be interested in telling us all about books which have been helpful to them (the Bible's inclusion is assumed)?

Some of my own choice would be:

The Imitation of Christ

Pilgrim's Progress

Marcus Aurelius' Meditations (controversial?)

I would be interested to hear about other helpful books.

i've just finished reading Dante's Divine Comedy so would now add that to my list. Stunning stuff, I couldn't put it down.
I borrowed the book from my local library but now I've bought it because I know I will read it again and again.
Dante gives a very graphic picture of the torments in Hell but unlike Milton's Paradise Lost, the Comedy doesn't give the devil the starring part, which definitely belongs to God.
God is seen as extremely stern but 100% just and fair and the picture of Christ, seen via Virgil, St Lucy, Beatrice and St Bernard, is one of someone who really cares about human development and progress towards Him.
Hello, a book that I have rediscovered is "The Way of a Pilgrim." I heard from him many years ago. During my theological studies I participated in spiritual retreats. At that time I learned the Jesus prayer. At the beginning of the year, I read the book. It is very impressive. I found him to many spiritual inspiration for my life.
I've been thinking about what books I read in my youth. What books there were, among others, which brought me to study theology. There were a few novels, which today might not even be read.
In my early youth I was impressed Ben Hur by Lewis Wallace. Later, it was The Nun's Story by Kathryn Hulme and The Cardinal by Henry Morton Robinson. Today I am still like a little book by Karl May, entitled "Himmelsgedanken". There are poems by Karl May about God and eternity. I think that the book was not translated.

Smeagologists

Once someone asked me “What is a Smeagologist?” My reply was simply, “Whatever you want it to be!” Seeing as I invented the name, I think I have a right to decide that it be a neutral term that is based roughly upon one’s emergence in a society that is progressively reductionist and bordering on Nihilism on one side and Contemplation on the other, I prefer the Contemplative side but attend most vigorously to the other seeing as our pale blue dot is gradually disappearing and who knows one day…See More

I ask for your prayers.

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
