De-baptising???

At the Bishop of London's Talks in Holy week a question was raised about the National Secular Socity's latest ploy to encourage people to "debapatise" them selves by registering their "debaptism". As Easter contiunues we remind ourselves that this year two billion Christians will have celebrated Easter throughout the world, not bad for an answerr tio the National Secular Society.
But as the Bishop said in St Stephen Walbrokk the real chutrch alligned to the London Internet church, if there are a number of people who have "debaptised" themselves could we have their names and addresses so that we might enter into the Baptismal Registers of the Church of England a note drawing attention to this fact?
Since the Baptismal Registers are public documents available for all to see this would let us know exactly how many people had brought themselves to do this. Better still our Partners Premier Media who are carrying this site for us, have a campaign which you can join in with and register your declaration of as part of a 100,000 Christians asserting their faith; you need to find www.iamachristian.co.uk to registe. If the Nation Secular Society want to challenge the faith then the Internet Church will be a major tool of communication to proclaim the risen Lord.

Since a recent research survey showed that over three quarters of Britons, whether or not they attend church services, believe in God and consider themselves to be Christian, who exactly is the National Secular Society appealing to? Or on behalf of?
I'm sure most Brits don't want to be "debaptised". On the contrary, confirmation is a chance for everyone to reaffirm their baptism vows when they are at an age to make a decision for themselves. The vast majority of people choose to be confirmed.
Some of us even get a choice about baptism. I myself made the decision to be baptised when I was 16. My brothers likewise.
My parents didn't have me baptised when I was a baby because my father's parents came from different faiths so he had no preference (between Jewish and Christian) and my mother thought everyone should choose for themselves.
At last Saturday's service, an adult gentleman was baptised; obviously his own choice, too.
Even if the National Secular Society got their 100,000 signatures, how can anyone tell if they were from baptised people?
In any case, since the score is 2 billion to 100,000 it's pretty obvious whose the winning side is.

can we just chill on this? I would rather that faith was not a football game, or a war ...
Could we love the people of the NSS and not engage in a battle?

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
