One of the most delightful and useful parts of this site I find is the Night Prayer. All of the contributers are excellent, but I notice that there have not been recent additions.

I wonder if there are going to be further Night Prayers added here. I still use the same ones there because they are so good, but are there going to be others?

Great site!

Hello, David
Yes, I'm also wondering what's happened to Night Prayer. I'll ask Jim Rosenthal, who liaises with Premier on that.
God bless. Lynda
Lynda sent me a very kind reminder that the Night Prayer has been updated.

All's well now !!
I still enjoy Night Prayer as a source of consolation.

And I would also like to express my appreciation for the MORNING PRAYER.

Thank you so much for these sanctuaries of peace.

I used to use the prayer feed from the Church of England website for Night Prayer/Compline, just before tearing myself away from my computer to go to bed.

But the Night Prayer offered here is a much more profound experience. I have come across three readers so far, and they all share the power of the human voice to make a connection across time and space to touch the onlooker. The service feels personal and intimate, and the candles, plainchant sung almost imperceptibly in the background, and simple purity of the stone architecture of St Stephens all combine to offer an experience which has become an important part of my day for which I am very grateful.

Thomas Kirchhoff commented on Lynda Keen's blog post Fire-breathing vicar for Pentecost
"Hello, yes this is a great idea. The idea, indeed the Spirit of Pentecost is difficult to explain. In Germany only a few people know the real meaning of this feast. I find this a very impressive sermon, certainly dangerous. Measured by human…"

Smeagologists

Once someone asked me “What is a Smeagologist?” My reply was simply, “Whatever you want it to be!” Seeing as I invented the name, I think I have a right to decide that it be a neutral term that is based roughly upon one’s emergence in a society that is progressively reductionist and bordering on Nihilism on one side and Contemplation on the other, I prefer the Contemplative side but attend most vigorously to the other seeing as our pale blue dot is gradually disappearing and who knows one day…See More

I ask for your prayers.

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
