Perhaps this is too much a specialised issue for this board, but I wonder if anyone would be interested in this, and what they would think of the videos I mention.
Although I only play the organ monthly at a short quiet traditional service, and I'm not all that good at it anyway, I thought I'd better try to learn how to improvise.
And so I'm working my way though some of the guidelines of Gerre Hancock's book (pronounced "Jerry").
Here is Gerre improvising -- oh, I wish I could do this!

Different to his contribution are organists from the French catholic tradition. Very different, perhaps OTT, but I love them anyway:

I hope these videos give pleasure, and please give you responses if you want.
Permalink Reply by Lynda Keen on July 5, 2011 at 8:35am Wow! David, thank you very much for all this lovely music. I'm so impressed that I've posted the videos on the Videos page and featured them.
Nothing is too specialised to post on the forum and anything that shows the creativity God gave us this much is very, very welcome.
God bless. Lynda

I never met him, but by all accounts he was a lovely man. And his work, and especially his famous manual, has been a source of inspiration in my own attempts at organ improvisation.
