London Internet Church

Online community of the London Internet Church

What can an internet church do that a bricks and mortar church can't? What are the advantages of having an internet church?
Worldwide instant communication.
Outreach to Christians in countries where no church exists or where church meetins are prohibited.
Lifeline for the housebound.
Be a record of sermons/talks etc for future reference.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks for opening this up Lynda. I also think that an internet church can:

give voice to people normally excluded
communicate the Gospel to those for whom traditional church is more of a barrier than a support
promote radical and innovative worship
help us to question much of the taken-for-granted (especially the norms of organised religion, such as the Anglican Church)
support relationship building ( and communion) between christians
make valuable thinking and resources, such as sermons, theology, liturgy available to many more people
help marginalised christians to feel less isolated
be fun!

Christ is risen!

With thanks to www.reverendfun.com
Perhaps an internet church is also the place for communal bible study? I'm not sure what format to use but maybe someone's got an idea?
I agree, Henk.
I have set up a Bible Study group here but, like you, am not sure what format would be best for it - topics based on the Bible, regular set readings or following readings from the Anglican Lectionary (weekly church readings) etc.
I'm glad you've thrown this open for suggestions.

Yes, I've watched Morning Prayer. It's a wonderful and positive way to start the day.

Words of The Day

Psalm 118    1    O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. 2    Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 3    Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 4    Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 5    I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.…See More
