Good morning, Lynda! Thank you for your comment. Some prayers accompany us through life. Psalm 23 is also such a prayer. Since my studies at the University - about 30 years ago - accompanies me the following prayer. It is from Compline.
I hope you have a good year, may God bless you! Give my regards to London!

Visit, we beseech thee, O Lord, this place, and drive from it all the snares of the enemy; let thy holy angels dwell herein to preserve us in peace; and may thy blessing be upon us evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Thomas, your prayer for some reason reminded me of my school prayer, which came from Philippians 4:8 - "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honourable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Hello, recently I found this prayer in an old prayer book. I wish you all a blessed New Year. May the Star of Bethlehem lighten our darkness!

O Lord, without whom our labour is lost, and with whom Thy little ones go forth as the mighty; we humbly beseech Thee to prosper all works in Thy Church undertaken according to Thy holy will; and grant to Thy labourers a pure intention, patient faith, sufficiant success upon earth, and the blessedness of serving Thee in heaven:
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

During my study I learnt the Jesus Prayer. I recite it with the breath. By the prayer I become quieter and more calm.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, (a sinner).

CANTICLE OF WONDER (Reginald Jay Townes)

Oh Great Dreamer, God of the impossible, you never cease to amaze us.

-At every crisis and difficult situation you meet us with a blessing in disguise.
-At every extreme circumstance you are there to lead us out through and escape route.
-Blessed are you, God of our Salvation, you answer our prayers and heal our wounds.

Oh Great Dreamer, God of the impossible, you never cease to amaze us.

-At every fall you lie below us to push us up; and at every drop of our tears you are there, to catch them in the hollow of your hand, to sanctify them and wipe them away.
-At every mistake we make, you're there with a plan. At every misfortune you bring Good News.
-In the abyss of our despair and in our darkest hour, you shower upon us bright rays of hope. And when all we have left is the stench of death, you give us life all over again that we may never die!

Oh Great Dreamer, God of the Impossible, you never cease to amaze us!

Thank you for your warm welcome Lynda.  I live in an isolated village where a combination of transport difficulties and personal health issues make it difficult to get out and be part of a larger community.  It was a…

Words of The Day

Psalm 118    1    O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. 2    Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 3    Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 4    Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 5    I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.…See More
