Churches in Cyprus and Lebanon
What a variety of architectural forms churches can have.
These six churches are: an underground rock-cut chapel in Paphos, Cyprus; the 16th century Archangel Michael Church in the mountain village of Galatea, Cyprus; St Lazarus Church, Larnaca, Cyprus; Bellapais Abbey, Bellapais, Cyprus; a church built on top of catacombs, Amioun, Lebanon; and an Armenian Church in Beirut, Lebanon.

Elaine, thanks for the photo of St Lazarus, Larnaca. I'm sure I didn't take a photo that good so it must have been that you gave it to me.

Cyprus has a special place in my life and most of these churches are cherished memories. Thanks for sharing your pictures. One night we sat outside a cafe opposite St Lazarus' church in Larnaca. It was a mellow sunny evening, swallows filling the air with their chirping, the evening sky red behind the purple flowering tree in the church yard. I value that memory for the peace it still brings.

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
