Can I post whatever I want on the Community
Forum?
Yes, within reason.
Photos, videos and events will be approved by an administrator
before they are posted to the site, in order to keep the site
safe.
We have a Code of Conduct which all members should read. It is in a
sub-tab under the Main tab button at the top of any page.
The site is monitored and any infringement of the Code of Conduct
results in the member who infringed it being banned.

How do I write something on the Community
Forum?
You can write in any blank text box.
Write your text then click Save or Add, whichever is at the bottom
right of the text box.
You can also copy and paste text you’ve written in Word or any
other word processing program.

Can I edit what I've put in a text box?
Yes.
In any text box, after saving or adding your text, you have 15
minutes to edit it.
To edit within that time, click inside the text and the text box
will reopen.
Edit then Save or Add again, whichever is appropriate.
Later, you can edit it by clicking Edit under Admin Options to the
right of what you posted..
Can I delete what I've put in a text
box?
Yes.
To delete, just click on the little orange X at the top right of
what you posted.

How do I put a photo on My Page?
At the top of any page, click the My Page tab button.
Under the blank photo box, click Manage My Photo.
Click Browse.
Find a photo on your computer.
Select it.
Click Open.
Click Save.

Where can I introduce myself?
In the text box in the middle of your My Page.
You can put text, photos, slideshows, videos and music in
there.
There is also an Introductions thread in Groups, in the Cyber
Cafe.

How do I change my Profile?
At the top of any page, click the My Page tab button.
Under your photo box click Manage My Page.
Click on any of the links and check the appropriate boxes.

Yes.

Under your photo box, click Manage My Page.
Click Privacy and check the appropriate boxes.

Yes.
You can change the colour scheme and layout of your My Page.
At the top of any page, click the My Page tab button.
Under your photo box, click Manage My Page.
Click Appearance and check the appropriate boxes.
There are a lot of choices so it looks a bit daunting but it isn't
difficult if you do things one step at a time

How can I communicate with another
member?
At the top of any page, click the Members tab button.
Find the member you want to communicate with.
Click Add a Comment.
Type your message in the text box.
You can also find the member you want by using the Search box at
the top right of the website pages.
Or
At the top of any page, click the Members tab button.
Find the member you want and click on their photo box. This will
open their My Page, where you can write in the blank ‘Leave a
comment’ text box.

How do I reply to a comment sent to me?
If someone has sent you a comment, under the comment click Comment
Back then type your message in the text box.

Can I send private messages to other
members?
You can send private messages to the site administrators Jim
Rosenthal, Lynda Keen and Peter Delaney. To send a message to an
administrator, go to their My Page and under their photo box click
Send Message.
You can send a private message to another member in your invitation
to them to be your Friend. All other communications are not
private.

How can I invite another member to be my
Friend?
At the top of any page, click the My Page tab button.
On the right-hand side of the page, click on Friends.
Under your photo, click on Invite Friends to send your invitation.
You can add a private message here, too.
Wait for your Friend to accept.
Or
At the top of any page, click the Members tab button.
Find the person you want to ask to be your Friend.
Click on their photo to open their My Page.
Click on Add a Friend, which is under their photo.
Wait for them to accept your invitation to be your Friend.

How can I invite a non-member friend to join the
London Internet Church?
At the top of any page, click on the Invite tab button and follow
the step by step instructions.

How do I put a photo on the Photos
page?
At the top of any page, click the Photos tab button.
At the top right-hand side, click Add Photos.
Click in the orange box where it says Click to Add Photos.
Find your photo in your computer.
Select it.
Click Open.
Click Upload.
Write a title and description for your photo in the text boxes
provided.
Add keyword tags so that people searching can find your photos
easily.
You can upload more than one photo at a time.
You can also create a photo album to put your photo(s) in or you
can put them into an existing album. There is a choice box for this
under where you href and describe your photo(s).
Click Save.
Or
If you want to add a photo you already have on flickr, click Add
under flickr on the left under the orange Click to Add Photos box.
Then go through the same process as above.
Or
If you want to add a photo by phone or email, click your email
address shown on the right under the orange Click to Add Photos
box.
Then go through the same process as above.

How do I put a photo into a text box?
In a textbox, place your cursor where you want the photo to come
within your text.
Click the camera icon at the top of the text box.
Browse to find your photo in your computer.
Select the photo you want.
Click Open.
Source code for the photo will appear in the text box.
Click Add
A lot of source code will appear in the text box.
When you Save the text box, your photo will appear.
Or
After clicking the camera icon, type in the website address of a
photo you have on another website. The follow the process as
above.
The source code for the photo should appear at the point where you
placed your cursor. However, sometimes it doesn’t but instead
appears at the top of the textbox.
If this happens, select all the code with your mouse, right click
and Copy.
Put your cursor where you want the photo to appear.
Right click and Paste.
The code will then appear in the right place and so will your photo
after you Save or Add, whichever is appropriate to that text
box.

How do I put a video on the Videos
page?
At the top of any page, click the Videos tab button.
At the top, at the right-hand side, click Add Videos.
If the video is on your computer, click the orange box Click to Add
Videos.
Browse for your video.
Select it.
Click Open.
Click upload.
Wait while the video uploads. This may take a while.
Write a title and description for your video
Add keyword tags so that people searching can find your videos
easily.
Click Save.
Or
You can add videos by phone or email.
Under the orange box where it says Click to Add Videos, click your
email address. Then follow the uploading process as above.
Or
You can post videos from youtube, hulu or vimeo or from other
online services.
Under the orange box where it says Click to Add Videos, click the
icon for youtube, hulu or vimeo or click ‘or embed videos from
other services’. Then follow the uploading process as above.
Warning.
When you upload videos from online services, do not link to their
websites. Instead, copy and paste their embed code.
On youtube, before you copy the embed code, click in the embed code
box and some checkboxes will appear under it.
The “Show Related Videos” box is checked by default. Make sure you
uncheck it. We don’t want links to the related videos because we
have no control over what may be shown in them.
Please note that hulu videos are currently available only if you
are in the United States.

How do I put a video or slideshow into a text
box?
Copy its embed code and paste it into the text box.
We do not want external advertising on the website so please ensure
that no advertising is shown beyond the href of wherever you
obtained the slideshow or video from, eg youtube, vimeo.

How do I reply to a discussion in the
Forum?
At the top of any page, click the Forum tab button.
Choose a Category and click View All under its title.
Choose the discussion you’re interested in and click on its
title.
Read the discussion threads.
Under each thread is a Reply to This button.
Click Reply to This and write your reply in the text box.
Click Add Reply.

How do I start a new discussion in the
Forum?
At the top of any page, click the Forum tab button.
At the top right-hand side of the page, click Add a Discussion.
Write a title in the Title text box.
Write your introduction to your discussion in the large text
box.
From the drop-down box, choose which category to put your
discussion in.
Add keyword tags so that people searching can find your discussion
easily.
Click Add Discussion.

How do I join a Group?
At the top of any page, click the Groups tab button.
Choose the group you want to join and click on its icon or
title.
At the top right-hand side of the page, click Join Group.

How do I reply to a Group discussion?
At the top of any page, click the Groups tab button.
Choose the group where you want to reply to a group discussion.
If you’re not already a member, you’ll need to join the group (see
paragraph above for how to).
Click on the group's icon or title.
Choose the discussion you want to reply to and click its title.
Choose the thread you want to reply to and click Reply to This.
Write your reply in the text box.
Click Add Reply.

How do I start a new discussion in a
Group?
At the top of any page, click the Groups tab button.
Choose the group where you want to start a new discussion.
Click on its icon or title.
Under the list of discussions, click Start Discussion.
Write a title in the Title text box.

How do I start a new Group?
At the top of any page, click on the Groups tab button.
At the top right-hand side of the page, click Add a Group.
Write your group’s title in the Title box.
Put a photo or clip art picture in the photo box if you have
one.
Write the introduction to your group in the large text box.
Change any features you want to on the list at the right.
Click Add Group.

How do I put a blog on the Blogs page?
At the top of any page, click on the Blogs tab button.
At the top right-hand side of the page, click Add a Blog Post.
Write a title in the Title text box.
Write your blog into the large text box.
You can choose a date you want your blog to appear, choose privacy
and comments options, and save a draft to finish off later. You can
preview your blog and edit it.
Then click on Publish Post.
Your blog will also appear on your My Page.

How do I put a link to another website in a text
box?
Type the website address (known as the URL) into the text box.
Position your cursor before the website address.
Click the chain icon at the top of the text box.
Type or paste your website address into the pop-up box.
If you then get two copies of the first bit (http://), delete one
of them.
Click OK.
Some source code will appear in the text box.
When you Save or Add, this will become a link to your website
adddress.

How do I put an event on the Events
page?
At the top of any page, click on the Events tab button.
At the top right-hand side of the page, click Add an Event.
Fill in the boxes on the form with all the relevant information
about your event, plus a picture if you have one.
Click Add Event.

What does Featured mean?
The administrators can feature members, discussions, groups, blogs
and videos. This means they appear in the centre column of the main
page so that everyone sees them when they first enter the
website.
Who and what is featured changes regularly. The members featured
are chosen because they've made interesting contributions that we
think other members will be particularly interested in.
Discussions, groups and blogs are chosen for the same reason.
Videos are chosen also if their content is relevant at a particular
time. For example, when this page was written, Michaelmas was
approaching so we featured a video on St Michael; Jim Rosenthal was
about to be ordained Canon so we featured a video of him giving a
speech.
How do I translate the Community Forum pages
into another language?
On any page, at the right-hand side of the page, find the Google
Translate box.
Click on the down arrow. A list of languages will appear.
Click on the language you want, to select it.
A new page will appear in your chosen language.
How do I find a church near me?
On any page, at the right-hand side of the page, find the Church
Finder box.
Enter your post code into the dialogue box
Click Search by Postcode.
Click your location on the map that appears.
A list of church addresses near you will appear.
