I am not sure if I have done this right or not. I am replying to Lynda and everyone else who has introduced themselves....I hope. Still finding out how to do all of this. Anyway - what to say about myself. Well, I am a Catholic but open to all - on…

Welcome to the internet church's cyber cafe. This is a drop-in place to relax, introduce ourselves and get to know one another after listening to the night service, watching Premier TV, blogging, debating on the forum and/or spending time in a group

I agree with Lynda. The "church" which Christ founded was not an organisation, but the community of believers in Him. It is that community which Peter understood he was dedicated to serve, as recounted in the Acts of the Apostles and his two Epistle…

At the end of Mark's gospel, Jesus says to his disciples, "Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to the whole human race." (Mark 16:15). A similar instruction is given at the end of Matthew's gospel (28:19-20).. Jesus' instruction is a…

I think it would be interesting to discuss these words in the Gospel. Many scholars have said that these words are a later addition to the Gospel and that the likelihood is that Jesus never said the words. I would like to have some input from others…

Welcome back, Kathy. Despite the difficulties, I hope you're both happily settled in your new home now?
You can change your profile to show your town as Scunthorpe. Click Manage my Page then Profile, type in Scunthorpe instead of Buxton and Save.
Looking forward to seeing you in the Bible Study discussions now we've got regular readings going.
God bless. Lynda

Hello all. It's a long time since I have been here. I moved house on May 22nd and it has been traumatic. I no longer live in Buxton, as it says on my Profile. I live in Scunthorpe. My husband who was already badly disabled, broke his leg two days before we moved. The whole move was catastrophic, so I have not had chance to come in here before now. Thankyou all so much for the Birthday wishes, that I never replied to, with getting ready to move. God bless you all. xx

Hi, Alan and Kathy I'm glad you're interested in the Bible Study group. It's very new as I only started it a few days ago and I opened the group for the simple reason that there wasn't one.
In every face to face Bible Study group I've ever attended, the group leader chose a Bible text and the group discussed its meaning.
In an internet church, I think a Bible Study group can be more democratic as all the members can act as leaders to start new discussions.
So you can choose texts and post them here for discussion and you can join in discussion of texts posted by other people once some people post some texts.
The texts could be from the current week's readings at your church services, texts you feel passionately about, texts you've thought about and have a personal interpretationof, texts that perplex you, or texts that you feel are relevant to some topical issue.
Your choice entirely.
I've done something slightly different in the "Jesus' Character" discussion space, by inviting anyone who's interested to quote Bible texts that show us something about Jesus' character. So that discussion would be more like a literary character analysis.
I chose this topic because the character of Jesus fascinates me because the whole of our Christian faith revolves around what He did, said and how He was seen and understood or not understood by those around Him.
Given that He was executed as a possible revolutionary inciting revolt against Rome and as a blasphemous apostate against the established Jewish religious establishment, and that His words and actions have had such a tremendous impact on the whole world for over 2000 years, I'm particularly interested to see if the Bible text shows Him as the "gentle, meek, mild" persona we often attribute to Him today or as something else altogether.

Just a few thoughts, totally my own opnion and open to be shot down: I would have liked to have be a Christian soon after the Resurection when the experience of the Risen Lord was not yet made into an organisation. The early communities seemed to b…

There is a sad irony in this title, ... as Christians we can look forward in hope to a new creation, but as an anthem of mankind it lacks the contrast with evil. I think old Louis, had that in mind when he sang...almost tongue in cheek.. mmm?

Lately I have been thinking about the table of the Lord. Form in religion is something that I think should be a personal thing. Content however (the person of Jesus Christ) is foundational and the complete focus of the body of Christ. Just me.
