We are living in a school flat for the time being. It is on the first floor and with one daughter and another baby due in February, my wife and me are looking for somewhere else outside of Winchester - because it is too expensive!! Do you make many…

You should show them the new St John's Bible, too. I went to the exhibition of prints from it at St Martin in the Fields and it's very beautiful and altogether modern. We've got a video of that, too.

I think everywhere around Winchester is expensive but good luck with your househunting.
Do I make many films?
I've never made even a youtube video before. In the Footsteps of Jesus, that I've posted here, was my first.
It turned out OK though it took ages figuring out how to do it. Eventually I made a Powerpoint slideshow, downloaded a free converter program, converted it to mp4, uploaded to youtube, then copied the embed code to here. I'm a bit peeved that it came out without a front picture because that was automatic; I didn't get a choice of photo for the cover and I don't think it looks good as it is. I may try to tweak it.
I've found a better site than youtube for both making and downloading videos in future so watch out for some really good ones.
I've also learnt how to make slideshows for here. I've done them before in html on my own homepage but here I don't have access to the source code so have had to find new ways to add slideshows. Luckily, there are quite a few funky websites where you can create them for free.
I didn't have a good camera when I took the Lebanon pix, just a little Olympus Trip. Now I have a really good camera, a Fuji which is digital but almost SLR quality. So I take lots of photographs, especially of my garden, as you can see in the Flowers for this Church discussion forum and of wildlife wherever I can, which is usually just near wherever I'm living, not on safaris to exotic places. See the Green Group for wildlife pix I took in Pakistan, as well as in my garden.

I taught a summer school, teaching English to foreign students.
It was fun as we had a great co-ordinator, an American guy who works in the Czech Republic. To have good admin in education is so rare that he's one of only two really good bosses I had in 23 years of teaching so I remember and value him highly.
The students were good, too, as most of them wanted to learn and enjoyed the relaxed style of the classes. There was just one pest, a rude French lad who talked French all the time in class, boring little squirt. Still, there's always one, isn't there?
Is this your first teaching job? Or were you teaching somewhere else before moving to Winchester? Are you living in Winchester itself?
I stayed in an outlying village when I was there, don't remember its name though. It had a lovely trout stream and a mill that had been tarted up into a tourist attraction.

Beautiful place to work. I used to walk through the Cathedral Close every morning just to enjoy its peacefulness.

Hello, Paul, and welcome to the London Internet Curch community forum.
Your year 5s will love the Book of Kells and you teach in Winchester? Don't tell me you teach at Winchester College?
I taught a summer school there some years ago, and Martin Clunes happened to be filming 'Goodbye Mr Chips' in the quad at the time so all our breaktimes were much more interesting than our classes, especially when they filmed a bit about a plane being shot down.
I hope you enjoy the rest of this website and look forward to hearing from you in the discussions etc.
I edit the community forum so if you have any questions, just ask.
God bless. Lynda

Words of The Day

Psalm 118    1    O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. 2    Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 3    Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 4    Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever. 5    I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.…See More
