Chris, I enjoyed reading this. I'm not a big fan of socio-contextual methodology in the history of art as it delimits meaning, so I think your above discussion is balanced. I enjoyed your discussion of pictorial construction very much too! All best,…
Extremely interesting! The one thing I would add is that the *intention* of Hirst, and not the art work, is his real subject. For me, he is too consciously trying to make a form of meta-art and his work is dependent on a belief in an older historica…
Sorry not to have met you this evening although the garden part of the garden party was rained off.
No invitation is needed really for events at St Stephen, just come along and you'll be very welcome.
When/where is the show you mention? i'm sure that would be of interest and I could post details in the Event section here.
God bless, Lynda
Sorry not to have met you at the Walbrook Art Group today, Chris, but good to know the reason for your absence was too much work!
Hopefully, Peter has now invited you to the service and garden party at St Stephen Walbrook on 6 August so we'll meet then.
Best regards and God bless. Lynda
Hello again, Chris. I've managed to change an appointment so will be at the Art group meeting at St Stephen Walbrook on 28 July after all.
I'm the fat lady with what my godmother used to call "the Keen conk" so it's easy to pick me out in a crowd.
I'll look out for you and look forward to meeting you.
Hello, Chris. I'm happy to hear that you'll be going to the Walbrook Art group on 28th. That's a meeting to review a recent tour of the National Gallery that Peter took us on so a good chance for you to get to know people as almost everyone will be contributing to the discussion.
There's at least one other art historian in the group, Chris White who may be there if his work schedule permits.
Unfortunately, I can't make that meeting so won't be able to meet you in person but hope to during the Advent meetings if not before, and I hope to get to know you on the internet church before then. I'm looking forward to see your postings in the Art group here.
In the meantime, perhaps you'd like to introduce yourself to other internet church members in the Cyber Cafe, too?
I am delighted to see that Lynda has welcomed you to the Art Group.
The next sessiion of the Art Group is in the Autumn beginning on Tuesday November 17th and the subject is to be "British Visionaries". as Lynda has said the group will meet to review its work on July 28th at St Stephen Walbrook, you will be most welcome to add your interest to the group, we shall hope to see you then?
Hi, Chris and welcome to the internet church.
I'm happy to see that you've joined the Art group and that you're in London.
The Walbrook art group will meet on Tuesday 28 July at St Stephen Walbrook, the internet church's founder church in the City, near the Bank of England and Mansion House. Buffet lunch at 12.30, discussion group starts at 1pm until 2pm. Peter Delaney runs the Art group meetings so if you can go along, please introduce yourself to him.
Best regards. Lynda
Just a few thoughts, totally my own opnion and open to be shot down:
I would have liked to have be a Christian soon after the Resurection when the experience of the Risen Lord was not yet made into an organisation. The early communities seemed to b…
There is a sad irony in this title, ... as Christians we can look forward in hope to a new creation, but as an anthem of mankind it lacks the contrast with evil. I think old Louis, had that in mind when he sang...almost tongue in cheek.. mmm?
Lately I have been thinking about the table of the Lord. Form in religion is something that I think should be a personal thing. Content however (the person of Jesus Christ) is foundational and the complete focus of the body of Christ. Just me.
Beloved in Jesus Christ,
Greetings to you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are reaching the un-reached people with
the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Telangana and helping the poor people. There are so many villages to reach…
