I could harp on endlessly regarding this church, but I shall not. I shall spare
you this. You probably know more about the place than I do.

What I would like to convey is that visiting St Stephen Walbrook has been one the
happiest moments of my life.

It was my inaugural visit to a church, any church, on my own. I was a liitle
aprehensive as to what I could expect. What rituals I need to follow etc.

I need not have worried on that account. As soon as I entered the church I felt
the warmth, the love, the open arms, the peacefulness, the tranquility, the serenity,
the knowledge that I was entering a family on equal status. Not one hint of hierarchy
or pecking order.

The altar is magnificent and it being round means that it is approachable from all sides.
No feeling of being at the back of the queue of being shunned.

The congregation were very friendly. I met numerous folk and immediately felt at home,
like I had been a member of the congregation for years.

It is not the administrators that make a church, be it physical or cyber,
it is the congregation.

It is the congregation that emits the warmth and governs the ambience.

My visit to St Stephen Walbrook was in complete contrast to my visit to my local
R/C church. There I felt like an outsider. I could witness the party but only from
outside, looking in through closed windows and locked doors.

Well thankyou R/C church but no thankyou, I have found a better party and I already
feel better for it.

I have many people to thank but I shall name none save to say that I am eternally
grateful that after 52 years I find a place I can call home.

And, what's more, I can take things at my pace. Participate or observe. I decide.

And so my journey begins, from a strong and supportive home base ......

Thankyou and once again,

take care, as always,

Edward

I'm delighted that you found St Stephen Walbrook's congregation so welcoming, Eddie, and had such a positive experience there today.

I hope to meet you at the Holy Communion service on Thursday.

God bless. Lynda

"Hello, yes this is a great idea. The idea, indeed the Spirit of Pentecost is difficult to explain. In Germany only a few people know the real meaning of this feast. I find this a very impressive sermon, certainly dangerous. Measured by human…"

Smeagologists

Once someone asked me “What is a Smeagologist?” My reply was simply, “Whatever you want it to be!” Seeing as I invented the name, I think I have a right to decide that it be a neutral term that is based roughly upon one’s emergence in a society that is progressively reductionist and bordering on Nihilism on one side and Contemplation on the other, I prefer the Contemplative side but attend most vigorously to the other seeing as our pale blue dot is gradually disappearing and who knows one day…See More

I ask for your prayers.

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
