Every day millions of people throughout the world worry about one thing or another. Christians also worry about their situations in life such as finances, sickness, death, families, love ones, children and their status in life.

As Christians we should not worry, but have faith in God and trust in His words. Worry is the worst thief of all. When we worry it robs us of peace and fulfillment, and we face physical consequences, which affects our health, causing us to rely on medication to remove symptoms. Worry is sinful and worthless.

Jesus said, therefore I say unto you, take no thought for life, what ye shall eat, or ye shall drink: nor yet your body, what ye shall put on. It is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns: yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

And why take ye thought raiment? Consider the lilies of the fields, how grow: they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, that event Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore , if God so clothe the grass of the field , which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink, or Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(For after all these things do the gentiles seek ;) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things?

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness: and all things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Matthew 6:25-34)

(1 Peter 5:6:7) says: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

(Philippians 4:6-7) Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Instead of worrying you should first acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask God to forgive all your sins, and help you to overcome worry and He will. Be sure to pray for wisdom and understanding, and read your Bible every day. Put God first in your lives and let Him take control of every situation. God can do the impossible, but you must trust in Him and believe.

 Prayer:

Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray that you will forgive me for worrying and not trusting in your Word. Father      I turn away from all sin and temptation. I will put my trust in You to work out my problems, whether they are real or imaginary. Father in the name of Jesus I pray that You will take full control of my life and give me peace and happiness. Lord, help me to be free from all worry. I will submit to You and pray and read my Bible every day. Open my understanding to what the scriptures say. Father I know that You love me and You have all the answers to life’s problems. Father I thank You for forgiving me in Jesus name, I pray. Amen

This is one of Jesus' lessons that I really try to put into practice.

I think the birds and flowers imagery is so vivid that it makes the teaching very strong and the most beautiful thing is that this philosophy works in everyday life.

Thomas Kirchhoff commented on Lynda Keen's blog post Fire-breathing vicar for Pentecost
"Hello, yes this is a great idea. The idea, indeed the Spirit of Pentecost is difficult to explain. In Germany only a few people know the real meaning of this feast. I find this a very impressive sermon, certainly dangerous. Measured by human…"

Smeagologists

Once someone asked me “What is a Smeagologist?” My reply was simply, “Whatever you want it to be!” Seeing as I invented the name, I think I have a right to decide that it be a neutral term that is based roughly upon one’s emergence in a society that is progressively reductionist and bordering on Nihilism on one side and Contemplation on the other, I prefer the Contemplative side but attend most vigorously to the other seeing as our pale blue dot is gradually disappearing and who knows one day…See More

I ask for your prayers.

On Wednesday my mother died. My sister and I were there. We prayed again with our mother. Then she fell asleep peacefully in the arms of my sister. Our pastor arrived a short time later. He spoke again the blessing over our mother. The funeral will be next Friday. I ask for your prayers for our mother and us, in this time of parting.See More
